History
The oil and gas division of Pöyry
was formed from two companies, Electrowatt Ekono and IGL.
IGL was formed in Aberdeen in November 1989 to provide high quality process engineering
services in the areas of operational support and front end engineering
to the UK North Sea operators. These elements
of the service remain core to Pöyry's
worldwide business today.
Electrowatt, an energy consultancy based in Reading and
headquartered in Switzerland, was acquired by the Pöyry
group in 1999. The oil and gas division expanded from its
original office in Oman to Abu Dhabi and Brunei. Heymo
Ingeneria, a specialist pipelines consultancy headquartered
in Spain, joined the group in 1989, while IGL was acquired
in 2006. These companies now form the Pöyry
Energy oil and gas division.
IGL opened offices
in Perth in February 1997, and this is
now the base
for Pöyry in the Asia Pacific region
along with the
Kuala Lumpur office which was established
in 2001 and a new operation in Brunei.
Europe continues to be supported from Aberdeen
and the Stavanger
office which was launched in August 2000 strengthening
the capability in the North Sea and Europe.
The oil & gas division of Pöyry now has
400+ experienced and respected
consultants working across the globe providing
value adding services to the energy industries.
Pöyry plans to expand
in all operating areas and is pursuing opportunities to
take its value adding products and services to other energy
centres around the world.
It continues to develop products
and services, establishing innovative, cost effective tools
and methods to solve the energy industry's problems helping
to improve our customers' bottom line.`
